Site Supervisor – RCC Structure / High-Rise Building

The Site Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day supervision and execution of RCC structural activities at the construction site. The candidate will coordinate with Civil Engineers, Site Engineers, subcontractors, and workers to ensure that work is completed safely, on time, and as per approved drawings and quality standards.

CORE ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

RCC Work Supervision

• Supervise daily RCC structural activities at the construction site.
• Monitor execution of columns, beams, slabs, shear walls, core walls, staircases, footings, and other RCC elements.
• Ensure work is carried out as per approved structural drawings and instructions from the Site/Civil Engineer.
• Monitor the complete RCC work cycle from reinforcement to shuttering and concreting.

Reinforcement Work

• Supervise reinforcement steel fixing as per structural drawings and BBS.
• Check bar size, spacing, lap length, development length, cover blocks, chairs, anchorage, and binding.
• Ensure reinforcement is properly fixed and secured before inspection and concreting.
• Coordinate with bar benders and reinforcement workers for daily work targets.

Shuttering & Formwork

• Supervise erection of column, beam, slab, wall, core wall, and staircase shuttering.
• Check line, level, dimensions, alignment, verticality, supports, props, and stability.
• Ensure shuttering is properly cleaned, aligned, supported, and ready before concrete pouring.
• Coordinate with shuttering carpenters and contractors for timely completion.

Concrete Work

• Supervise concrete pouring activities and coordinate with the Civil Engineer/RCC Engineer.
• Ensure correct concrete grade and required quantity are available before pouring.
• Monitor slump testing, concrete placement, vibration, compaction, finishing, and curing.
• Ensure proper use of needle vibrators and prevent honeycombing, segregation, and cold joints.
• Maintain records of concrete pouring and completed RCC areas.

High-Rise Building Work

• Supervise RCC construction activities across multiple floors.
• Ensure proper floor-to-floor construction sequence and planned cycle time.
• Monitor verticality, alignment, levels, and dimensions of structural elements.
• Coordinate movement of reinforcement, shuttering materials, concrete, and other materials at different levels.
• Ensure safe working practices during high-rise construction activities.

Drawing & Site Execution

• Understand and follow structural and architectural drawings.
• Ensure workers execute the work according to approved drawings and site instructions.
• Report any discrepancies, drawing issues, or site difficulties to the Civil/Site Engineer immediately.
• Coordinate with the survey team for line, level, grid, and verticality requirements.

Labour & Subcontractor Management

• Allocate daily work to bar benders, shuttering carpenters, masons, helpers, and other workers.
• Monitor labour attendance, productivity, and work quality.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and labour contractors.
• Ensure daily targets are achieved as per the construction schedule.
• Maintain discipline and proper coordination among site workers.

Quality Control

• Ensure proper workmanship in all RCC activities.
• Check reinforcement, shuttering, cover, embedded items, openings, sleeves, and other requirements before concrete.
• Report defects and quality issues to the Site/Civil Engineer.
• Ensure corrective work is completed before proceeding to the next activity.
• Minimize material wastage and rework.

Safety Compliance

• Ensure workers follow all site safety rules and PPE requirements.
• Coordinate with the Safety Officer for safe execution of RCC activities.
• Ensure proper safety arrangements for work at height, scaffolding, shuttering, lifting, concreting, and material handling.
• Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and incidents immediately.

Material & Equipment Coordination

• Check availability of reinforcement steel, shuttering materials, concrete, cover blocks, binding wire, tools, and equipment.
• Inform the Site Engineer about material shortages in advance.
• Ensure proper use and handling of construction materials.
• Monitor equipment such as concrete vibrators, pumps, lifting equipment, and other RCC tools.

Daily Progress Monitoring

• Monitor daily RCC work progress against the planned schedule.
• Maintain records of manpower, work completed, concrete quantity, reinforcement, and shuttering activities.
• Report daily progress and site issues to the Civil/Site Engineer.
• Immediately highlight delays, manpower shortages, material shortages, or technical problems.

Coordination with Site Team

• Coordinate closely with Civil Engineers, Site Engineers, Project Managers, Safety Officers, QA/QC Engineers, Surveyors, MEP teams, and subcontractors.
• Attend daily site meetings and communicate work instructions clearly to workers.
• Ensure proper coordination between different construction activities to avoid delays.

KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Practical knowledge of RCC structure and high-rise building construction.
• Good understanding of reinforcement, BBS, shuttering, formwork, and concreting.
• Ability to understand structural and architectural drawings.
• Knowledge of line, level, alignment, verticality, and basic surveying requirements.
• Strong labour and subcontractor handling skills.
• Knowledge of construction safety and PPE requirements.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and achieve daily construction targets.

QUALIFICATION

Diploma / ITI / Civil Engineering qualification preferred, with strong practical experience in RCC construction.
